Hello SOTGC community,

Marketing is the most important part of running any business. Without marketing, no one knows what you have, what you do, or how to buy from you.

Calling all powerpreneurs!

In order to accomplish your sales goals, you will need to have a good, solid marketing plan. Most of you know me as the Unstoppable DIVA, which should tell you that I am not exactly the DIVA of Sales. Personally, I don’t believe in the “hard sale” approach. As I write this, I am sitting in my car dealership right now getting my Cruiser serviced. Although I will gladly give praise to any car salesman or woman, I feel like I am being stalked around the showroom right now. That’s not what I’m about. I do not believe in pressuring someone into making a purchase. I believe in making a sale using emotional engagement.

I stopped working in the corporate world nearly a decade ago—or maybe it’s better to say that the corporate world left me. Either way, I credit the success of my business to emotional engagement.

Emotional engagement is focused on making connections with your internal team as well as your external clients. Potential buyers will be more attracted to your products and services when they first connect with you. This is because people are generally attracted to brands that they can connect with, which will make them more likely to buy what you’re selling. That’s why emotional engagement can give a power-preneur the ability to be unstoppable.

The concept of emotional engagement is pretty simple…

Sell yourself, not your product

Not only will clients want what you are selling, but they will also promote you without even thinking about it. Top-of-mind awareness is old school, but still very significant and very effective. When current clients refer you to their friends, those friends will buy because a trusted friend referred them to you.

People buy from people

Word of mouth has always been helpful to the success of any business. This type of marketing strategy can only happen when you build your personal brand: What I like to call relationship marketing.

Know your personal brand

When I first started speaking, I would hear other successful speakers say, “be a storyteller, connect with your audience, and they will listen.” This was great advice. Instead of pushing my agenda on people, I tell stories, and I even took that a step further. Be more than a storyteller, be a story changer.

Storytelling has the ability to draw people into your personal area of influence. Story changing draws people in deeper because you can show them how to be different and stand out in a crowd. It is an amazing feeling to be able to help someone change his or her story from a good one to an amazing one. Now they have a story that is easily sharable when they refer you to their friends. As your personal brand grows, your circle of influence grows too.

Build a personal brand that you can be proud of, and then share it with the world using Social media.

Social media platforms are the best way to promote your business and draw in new clients. Sharing your brand on social media can draw in a substantial amount of new buyers and help your brand BE UNstoppable. Once you share something on social media, it’s always out there. People will always be coming across your brand. You can even attach a friendly message about your business with the link you share. Share a message that will stick in people’s minds, and allow people to connect with your brand on a personal level. Remember, emotional engagement is key to becoming a power-preneur and BE UNstoppable.
